Spirits Platform Acquires The Botanist and Bruichladdich Single Malts from SouthTrade

Spirits Platform has announced that it has acquired the Bruichladdich Distillery’s portfolio from SouthTrade International, effective April 1. The portfolio includes the Bruichladdich, Port Charlotte and Octomore single malts as well as The Botanist gin.

The sales, marketing and distribution company said in January that it was looking to add more independent, international brands to its portfolio. This acquisition will now give Spirits Platform a footing in the whisky category for the first time, while The Botanist will join existing Gin Mare and Finsbury London Dry Gin brands within its portfolio.

“The Bruichladdich whiskies, as well as The Botanist gin, are a perfect fit for Spirits Platform and we look forward to nurturing them in Australia as we continue to develop awareness with both consumers and trade”, Spirits Platform CEO Ian Atherton said.

The Bruichladdich Distillery is located on the Hebridean Island of Islay, Scotland and its single malts and The Botanist gin first launched in Australia through SouthTrade in 2012.

Bruichladdich whiskies are well known for challenging the malt convention, each completely natural, non-chill filtered and without colouring, while The Botanist still remains as the first and only dry gin produced on Islay today, made from 22 hand-foraged botanicals found on the island.

Mungo Gilchrist, Remy Cointreau Regional Managing Director thanked SouthTrade for the creativity and passion its team has put into the brands over the last four years.

“We look forward to building on this solid foundation with Spirits Platform in the years to come”, Gilchrist said.
