William Grant premieres rare Kininvie whisky

For the first time this week, William Grant & Sons has released a 23 Year Old whisky from the Kininvie distillery to retail in Australia.

Opened in 1990 in Dufftown, Scotland, Kininvie is one of the most reserved distilleries in the world; only released when it is at its very best and even then, just to a select few.

The 23 Year Old retails for $210 (350ml bottle) and is a blend of whiskies from ex-bourbon and sherry casks, laid down in 1991 by William Grant & Sons’ sixth Malt Master, Brian Kinsman.

It has a distinctive Speyside character, boasting a rich, fruity, floral aroma and an ABV of 42.6%. On the palate, think rich vanilla oakiness, woody spices and elegant tones of orange fruit and blossom.

Don’t wait around to order this one, because who knows when Kininvie will ever release another!
