U.G.L.Y. Bartenders Raise Over $550,000

Over the past few weeks, 1,321 venues have registered to be U.G.L.Y, helping raise funds to support families impacted by a blood cancer with free accommodation.

Queensland wrapped up their magnificent campaign on September 14, raising an outstanding $510,000, and as the rest of Australia’s U.G.L.Y. bartenders kick off their campaigns on 1 October, the national tally is now at $550,000.

Since its launch in 2009, U.G.L.Y. has gained momentum, becoming recognised as a great campaign to partner with and create events to generate traffic through venues, whilst enhancing their community spirit.

One of the most rewarding and exciting developments is the uptake throughout both independent and group venues, and the competitive spirit has been prominent across both, as U.G.L.Y. Bartenders vie to come up with the most original and engaging fundraisers!

It’s not too late to be a part of this year’s campaign – just contact the U.G.L.Y. Team (Helen Walker, [email protected] or 0478 403 090) and they will organise your online registration and make sure you receive the U.G.L.Y. Kit - a comprehensive tool to assist in your fundraising efforts.

U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year is offering fantastic prizes in 2015, with incentive prizes for bartenders, including Uberbartool™ Kits for raising over $1,000; $500 worth of JB Hi-Fi gift cards for raising over $5,000; and the U.G.L.Y. VIP Cruise Boarding Pass for U.G.L.Y.s who raise over $10,000.

With the support of generous sponsors, the highest fundraiser in each state or territory will be crowned U.G.L.Y Bartender of the Year, winning a unique trophy and a $3000 travel voucher. For the venue, an impressive Hoshizaki Lancer prize valued at $7500 will acknowledge the dedication, generosity and innovative fundraising of the people involved. and of course, the support of the venue.

As well as being a great opportunity for venues to show their community spirit, every $80 raised by an U.G.L.Y. Bartender provides one night of accommodation to a regional family required to relocate to the city for leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma treatment. The Leukaemia Foundation’s aim is to provide 20,000 nights of accommodation through the U.G.L.Y. Bartender of the Year Campaign in 2015.
