Tickets Available to Wine Australia’s One Day Wine School

The fourth annual One Day Wine School will return again this year in March and April, to educate wine trade professionals on the latest industry trends and Australia’s long wine history.

The school aims to provide sommeliers or trade with some prior knowledge of wine with a greater sense of Australia’s wine evolution, its regions and its distinctive terroirs.

Wine Educator Aaron Brasher will host the event and take students through several themed tastings of more than 20 wines. This popular day will also examine the climate, microclimate and geology among the regions of Australian wine production.

A guest presenter accompanying Aaron will amplify the presentations on Australian wine as well. Past guest presenters have included Kim Bickley (Fine Wine Partners), Tom Hogan (Harry & Frankie) and Philip Rich (Prince Wine Store).

Participants will have the option to complete a multiple-choice exam and a blind tasting of one masked wine to test their newfound knowledge. The top seven participants from all sessions combined will win a place on the Wine Australia Trade Immersion Program (TIP), travelling for eight days through wine regions including Langhorne Creek, Mount Benson, Coonawarra, King Valley and Yarra Valley. The TIP trip will be held from 14-21 June, 2016.

Wine Australia’s General Manager of Marketing Stuart Barclay says the education initiative is a vital way of ensuring local trade continue their Australian wine journey.

“Australian wine quality is exceptional and we have a diverse offering, so our biggest challenge is to bring this richness of styles to people’s attention. We have 65 wine regions and each region has its own unique terroir, wine style and character”, Barclay said.

“We need to keep telling the regional stories of the fine wines being made in our own backyard and help educate Australian wine trade on our history, the evolution of traditional varieties and the innovations in our winemaking techniques.

Tickets cost $90 + booking fee.
