Awaited 2015 Penfolds Collection Revealed, Including 2011 Grange

The highly awaited 2015 Penfolds Collection is out now, featuring the latest vintages of the famed family of wines, including the 2011 Grange.

The newest Grange release is one of only six that have been released as a shiraz, sourced from the Barossa, McLaren Vale and Penfolds’ Magill Estate, in South Australia. According to Chief Winemaker, Peter Gago, the 2011 Grange is one of the finest reds to have come from the vintage.

Other highlights of the 2015 collection include the 55^th consecutive release of the 2013 Kalimna Bin 28 Shiraz, the 2013 Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon, made predominantly from the Adelaide Hills this time, and the 10^th consecutive release of the 2014 Bin 311 Tumbarumba Chardonnay

The Penfolds Collection is one of the most celebrated and anticipated releases in the world, each collection paying homage to the winery’s family of fine wines.

Gago said this year’s collection again reminds the winemaking team at Penfolds of the magic and unknowns of wine.

“There’s still so much that we don’t know, a continuum of surprise is occasionally explained by science, history or experience”, Gago said. “Our 2013 reds have significantly transformed in bottle – grown, complexed, fattened…call it what you will. These wines make us smile and remind us of why we do, what we do.”

In addition to the new vintage releases, for the first time this year, Penfolds has included gift boxes with a number of the wines. Each gift box comes with a plaque that can be personalised by collectors with a name and personal message.
