Regulatory Bodies Order Imperial Hotel to Close

The Imperial Hotel in Erskineville was forced to close over the weekend after the Office of Liquor, Gaming & Racing (OLGR) and NSW Police found a number of serious breaches at the venue.

The order forced the venue to close its doors from last Friday (19 June) until Monday (22 June), after both regulatory bodies found bar staff to be openly consuming illicit drugs while working and patrons intoxicated and also drug affected.

A statement released by OLGR said: “The hotel has come under increasing attention by both OLGR and police due to numerous drug detections, repeated intoxication issues, and ongoing disturbance issues from patrons leaving the venue in the mere two months since the hotel came under new management.”

Both OLGR and police currently have ongoing operations in the inner west area to ensure licensed premises are complying with their licence conditions and liquor and gaming laws.
