Merivale Set for Advancement as Queen Victoria Hotel Staff Takes Shape, New Appointment at Mr. Wong

Mr. Wong, Merivale’s headlining Cantonese restaurant, has announced key staffing changes as the vision behind the group’s highly anticipated takeover of the Queen Victoria Hotel begins to take foot.

The developments come out of the food sector with Michael Luo joining Merivale as Head Dim Sum Chef of Mr.Wong, while Eric Koh moves to a leading role within the Queen Victoria Hotel kitchen staff.

Koh will sit alongside group alums Christopher Hogarth and Patrick Friesen to deliver “a sensational menu of Hong Kong inspired street food” as early as Spring this year.

Luo joins Mr. Wong with an impressive international pedigree, including experience from Hakkasan Dubai and the InterContinental Hotels Group.

Frank Roberts, Merivale’s Food and Beverage Director, comments: “Michael is simply outstanding – an innovative dim sum master with an enviable flare and flawless attention to detail.  We’re incredibly excited to welcome him to the Mr. Wong team and cannot wait for him to showcase his talents with a new dim sum menu, set to launch later this month.”

Since opening its doors in August 2013, Mr. Wong has earned a string of highly regarded accolades and has garnered significant trade interest.
