Drinks Industry’s Top Personalities at ‘explore Drinks’ Master Classes

Visitors can expect a stellar line up of industry professionals at the upcoming Drinks Industry Show, taking place on Monday 16 to Tuesday 17 November at Luna Park Sydney.

Master Classes run by the ‘explore Drinks’ publication will put drinks professionals up close and personal with some of the most recognised names in the business of beverages.

Group Publishing Editor, HIP Media and ‘explore Drinks’, Ashley Pini expressed his anticipation for the show: “We have an exciting line up of speakers that represent what the explore Drinks series is all about – having fun with the category, while getting to know some of the amazing history behind the products you serve, sell and enjoy everyday.”

Kicking off the first day, is Jack Daniel’s Brand Ambassador Pat McEwan; Director of Whisky Academy’s Chris Middleton; Whisky Specialist Laura Hay; and Beam Suntory’s Brand Ambassador Matt Barnett, who together will compare both the historic and in-market differences between global production whisky regions, as well as information on how to taste and judge whiskies across a number of regions, including Scotland, Ireland, Canada, America, Japan and Australia.

Following on will be an expert discussion on mainstream beer versus craft beer delivered by “That Beer Bloke” - a.k.a Director of the Institute of Beer (IOB) Ian Kingham, with Two Birds Brewing Co-owner Danielle Allen and Head Brewer of the Australian Brewery Neal Cameron.

The afternoon will bring House of Arras, Master Winemaker Ed Carr, who will lead the Champagne and Sparkling Wine ‘Taste Off’. The sessions’ presenters will set Australia’s best sparkling against some of France’s best, as experts from both regions weigh in on how to taste and what to look for in quality Champagne and sparkling wine.

After the ‘Taste Off’, the audience will be invited to watch Dylan Howarth - National Brand Ambassador of Bols Genever, Ben Davidson - Spirits Education Manager Pernod Ricard, Gee David – South Trade International’s National Training Manager, Hayley Morison - Club Suntory Manager, Jason Crawley - Managing Director of The Drink Cabinet and Ollie Stuart - National Brand Ambassador of Campari Australia, who will share their knowledge on bartending competitions.

Concluding the first day, the industry’s top personalities from the day will gather to show off the drinks, skills and brands that they’ve dedicated their lives to representing at the Brand Ambassador Take Over (BABTO) party.

Bartenders will have the unique opportunity to meet the masters behind their favourite products as they taste, try, mingle and mix along. Brand ambassadors from some of this year’s most publicised competitions including Bacardi Legacy, Angostura Challenge and Suntory Cup will take over the bar, stirring up their winning drinks for the audience.

In addition, this year’s Drinks Industry Show will feature an educational and entertaining series of ‘Show Highlights’, including expert-led seminars, mixology demos, taste testing, a drinks lounge and the highly anticipated Australian Bartenders Guild (ABG) Classic & Flair National Cocktail Competition.
