The East Village Sydney to Unveil New Look in October

The East Village Sydney is set to re-open its doors this October after a major interior overhaul. The four-story, 100-year-old heritage site has received a dramatic facelift, including a new 100 square metre rooftop terrace overlooking the city skyline.

Purchased in April 2016, the East Village Sydney marks the second pub to the Goodtime Hospitality Group, co-founded by James Bodel and Locky Paech. The Group tasked designers Alexander and Co. with the refurbishment. The three levels of the building will house unique designs and spaces that will ultimately tie in to create the elements of a traditional Australian pub.

The ground floor bar affectionately referred to as the “Wine-pub”, will offer a selection of wines including a daily list of limited editions, complemented by a modern food menu.

The next level up will house the Athletic Club, a modern concept sports bar. Far from your regular TAB pub, the décor will be themed with an old-world feel, with old fashioned cocktails, boilermakers, dark liquors and numerous beers and whiskies on offer.

The Terrace will be located on the uppermost floor, providing breath-taking views of the city skyline. Designed as an all-weather rooftop bar, the Terrace setting will have a relaxed atmosphere, with fresh dishes from a variety of influences available. The semi-private dining room will also be open for bookings of up to 20 guests.

Heading up the team will be acclaimed Sydney Bartenders Reece Griffiths and Lee Potter Cavanagh as Bar Manager and General Manager. Having previously worked together at The Victoria Room and Whisky Jerx, with a collection of national and international awards, their unassuming approach will ensure the East Village Sydney has both the quality and approachability of a modern Australian pub.
