Bickford’s to Open New $6.6M Distillery This Week

Bickford’s Group of Companies, producer of Bickford’s Cordials and Traditional Sodas, is set to open a new $6.6 million distillery in Renmark in the Riverland, South Australia this Friday. While further details will be announced on the day, the Group has said that the distillery will be used to produce a new range of craft spirits, focusing on gin and brandy in particular.

The distillery and visitor centre are expected to provide a major boost for the local economy, bringing a world-class tourist attraction to the region. The distillery has also promised to offer 15 full-time and casual positions to locals initially.

Bickford’s Group Managing Director, Angelo Kotses, described the opening as, “a great day for South Australia as we’re using local produce wherever available, adding a new ‘must see’ tourist destination to this beautiful region and creating dozens of jobs for locals.”

The distillery is located on the Twentythird Street in Renmark and takes over what was once a century-old landmark in the town. The build was funded in part by a State Government grant. South Australian Tourism Minister Leon Bignell will open the distillery at precisely 11.23am on Friday 23 September.
