Aperol Spritz on Serve: Campari Announces Partnership with Tennis Australia

Campari Australia and Aperol have announced a partnership with Tennis Australia for the Australian Open 2017, affording widespread exposure and consumer engagement opportunities for both the brand and the signature drink, the Aperol Spritz.

The new partnership will see Campari Australia and Aperol become the official spirit and official aperitif of the Australian Open 2017. As part of the partnership alliance, Campari Australia will introduce Club Aperol, a specially-designed facility for Australian Open attendees.

The instantly recognisable orange aperitif, the Aperol Spritz, will be served at the Club, as well as numerous bars across the tennis precinct. The Italian cocktail boasts flavours of sweet and bitter oranges, rhubarb and gentian root, and its popularity has made it almost synonymous with the Aperol brand itself.

Tennis Australia’s Director, Commercial, Richard Heaselgrave stated, “We are delighted to welcome Aperol to the Australian Open partner family and I know our fans will enjoy the Club Aperol experience. It promises to be a perfect fit with the sociable atmosphere of our events.”

Opportunities across the Emirates Australian Open Series events are also part of the agreement, including activations at the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp, APIA International Sydney, Hopman Cup Perth, Hobart International and the World Tennis Challenge in Adelaide.

Fans will be able to win bespoke prizes, as well as attend tennis-themed on-premise activations. In-store displays in leading liquor retailers will also coincide with the duration of the partnership, as well as major PR, digital and social media activities, and LED panel advertising in the tennis arenas.

Campari Australia’s Managing Director, David Halliday, said, “We are delighted to be partnering with Tennis Australia. The Australian Open is one of the most watched tennis events in the world and one of the country’s social events par excellence, whilst Aperol is a brand that also embodies freshness, celebration, and sociability.

“The fit between the two brands makes this a natural partnership that we are sure will bring continued success to both parties. In addition to deep brand exposure and consumer engagement benefits, the partnership will provide our trade and sales teams with excellent opportunities to support market penetration and growth of Aperol and the Aperol Spritz in Australia.”
